Default Exhaust bloke in Perth, WA

Hey guys, when out wheeling, I managed to crush the middle section of my exhaust - the piece where it crosses over to the other side of the car.

I unbolted it as it was FLAT... not ruptured, but pancake... took it home, cut it, made it round again, welded it, but it's still off a bit causing the muffle tip to tap on the rear recovery point on the rear bar.

It's the CRD - I thought I may as well get a straighter system if I'm going to end up paying $700 for that replacement piece.. and I'd like to increase the depth of the tray in the boot, which I can't do with the massive muffler.

Does anybody know an exhaust place in/around Perth that charges reasonably?
I keep getting told Mettham's in Midland (in front of Bunnings.)

Sean from Carline Balcatta quoted me (over the phone) $480 with a small muffler/hotdog. 350-380 without.

Grab an MRP system from SBROFFROAD.COM.AU simple install, you can do it yourself... sounds awesome... doubt there is any performance gains but from people who have them they say there is... never run one so I cant comment to be honest.

No one will have one for the CRD and even though a v6 one would work after the Y pipe, that's not the bit you really need!
I would drop into a centre and get quoted for a new cross over and the muffler-elimination pipe. Would expect it less than a few hundred.
I have used Sean at Carline in Balcatta for a few systems and they were excellent for a full custom system. Shop around though, your not asking for a competition build and any should be capable of this.

Can you shed some light on the Cat on the CRD - Is it restrictive? I haven't had a huge look at it due to the fact its tucked away..

I work in Balcatta so once the vehicle is back from getting the clutch done, I'll take it in and see what they can do.

Have you had your exhaust done there in your Wrangler?

All cats are slightly restrictive but if you look under your turbo you will see the massive canister there, thats our cat and the large diameter is to reduce the restriction.

Now without dynoing the vehicle with before and after, some vehicels require a small restriction to increase airflow speed which can assist in scavenging the exhaust. Some respond really well to no restriction and its hit and miss as to how ours will respond untill both are tried and measured.

No I havent done anything to mine yet, ran it without the muffler and found no noticeable inrease in power just more noise.

I will eventually remove it but I will fit a small hotdog or similar to keep it leagal. Not for performance but just for weight and storage box use, Im eventually cutting it out.

Matt.
