I did read alot of the thread, most of it was to do with 17" wheels thought .
I'll call Vic at SBR Offroad, still deciding if i got 265 and not have to change the wheels or 285 which are only $20 more each + wheels.
Might land up with an aggressive all terrain at this stage, so many choices and reading the forum just gives me an information overload.

Bryceee, you've seen my jeep, 16x8 with 5" back space just enough room for a 35" tyre without rubbing...

Go the 33's worth the xtra $$

What Rims you running that are 16x8 with 5" backspace?

ProComp 16x8 98's (steel) ask your dealer however; mine is an 07 build so the brakes were smaller... beware with mid 08 onwards the brakes got bigger and you must run 17" which may be problem.

A 17" X 9" with 4.75" back space is about the same...

Default 265's

Hi Bryceee, be careful with the 265 tyres, almost all AT and MT in this size are E Load rated with 10 py rating. This is a very stiff tyre. I have had a set since Easter, and have had a shocking ride since. Have tried dropping tyre pressure to 26psi, makes it better, but still not acceptable. My ESP even will kick in on really rough sections of back rd. I am looking to change to D Load rated tyres, maybe even 2 ply like the Duratrac or MTZ. I need some comfort back. Just head into some tyre joints and feel the carcus of different tyres, and you will get a general feel for how stiff it my ride. The E load tyres were designed in for loaded up F 150's, not for 2000kg JKs.
I think it is worth going the 285's just to avoid them.

O.K so I've had the Rubicon for 11 days now. The springs (dobinson 2") are still sitting in the back corner but will get fitted as soon as i have time. Still deciding on shocks etc.
We fitted the wheels on Saturday. They are Cooper ST-maxx 285/70r17 mounted on ATX 17' x 9". Rim offset is pos 20mm which I think equates to 5 3/4" backspace. Tyres are 10 ply & do firm the ride up a bit but not unaccepable.

Guys,

I just got my 285/75s fitted on 16x8 procomp 98 series the other day with 5" backspacing and tyres appear to stick out nearly an inch...
