Has anyone looked closely at the 2.8lt CRD Holden Colorado 7 SUV(not ute), i saw a write up in the paper and did a quick check online. Very similar torque output and weight of the KK, 45mm more clearance standard with live rear axle, 6 speed auto with low range, premium model has extended travel suspension, leather, roof rails, 6th and 7th seats in the rear removable. Itd be worth a look anyway, looked good on paper.

I saw that write up of the Colorado 7 SUV in the Car Guide section of the Telegraph today (30/11). The reason the engine specs are so close is because it's the same engine. GM is a 50% owner of VM Motori the manufacturer of the VM 2.8L CRD. The engine being put into the Colorado (Ute and SUV) is the VM 2.8L and seems to be the same spec to the KK and latest JK CRDs. VM has set up a licensing scheme to allow the engines to be built in the GM Thai plant and they are badging them as Duramax engines. The problem for the Colorado SUV is it is using the same ladder chassis as the Ute therefore the onroad dynamics will be that of a Ute on ladder frame. It certain would be an option for people who love the engine and want some more space. I don't know if there is a bar for it but any Colorado Ute stuff would probably work. Pricing looks very competitive compared to other 'seven, or five adult and two kids type seating'. The longer wheel base (2845mm) might work against you offroad as utes usually get hung up at some point compared to a KJ wheelbase (2650mm). The weight is the same as the KJ so I suspect they are using alot of plastic (as ladder frames will weight more than unibody vehicles). Worth a test drive maybe for some people. Need a drive test and offroad test to sort out the questions of dynamics, although the reviewers below don't think it is as good as some of it's competitors in ride quality.

Here is a link to a spec sheet:

It might be possible for GDE to create a flash ECU tune for the Colorado to tune out 500+nm, just by tweaking the JK CRD tune.

Hey Snail. How's the Tvan plans going. I too have contemplated the replacement of my 03. The 4 door JK is looking good except when I watch mates refuel. What's with the fuel filler issue and why isnt that sorted by now (topic for another thread) but the Grand looks great. A whole range of mods required, could consume another decade of planning and saving. The 03 is still providing great service, one mod at a time.

Well ours (jku) arrived today finally and with an 85ltr tank it's heavy on the pump and wallet but the computer thinks 612 to next refuel at 13l/100km
