I have a tough dog rtc damper it works well and steering feels normal and smooth, long range tank put in, takes me to roughly 1500km before I have to fill up

1500km!!! My XJ does 22 l per hundred, that thing would have to hold 330L

With a 1/2" square drive, you turn the tensioner. This lets the belt be slack & you remove it off the alt pulley first. Then off the other pulleys & feed it through the fan.

cool i think this one sits under the water pump on the drivers side of the engine bay

and looks similar to this one

im guessing 1/2 over that massive bolt and it should just pivot and release the slack ? It would also be the pulley on the belt diagram labelled "belt removal"

thanks for the help had myself and a few other stumped, so use to just backing off bolts on the alternator and adjusting the tension from there
