Default U-Pol Raptor Liner

Hey guys

Over the Christmas break I decided to spray the inside of the TJ with U-Pol Raptor bedliner. Here's a bit of a write up and lots of pics.

Product : Upol Raptor liner
http://www.ppcco.com.au/kits7.htm
Cost roughly $300 posted with a Schultz gun.
Comes in 4 x 1 litre bottles.
I used 1 bottle per coat.
Make sure you have a mask.
This stuff stinks!

Time took roughly :
Strip - 8-10 hour day
Wash/sand - 4 hours
Masking - 5 hours
Painting - 30 mins per coat, 4 hours drying time in between.
Let it cure for over a week as i went on holidays.

I had never used a spray gun before.
Was so easy to use.
Sprayed it at about 50 psi.
Recommends 40-70psi depending on the texture desired.

First thing first was to strip down the TJ

Seats out, trying to tackle the rollcage

Tools everywhere.....

Roll cage out! Torx bolts are a pain. Ended up having to grind the bolts out.
Now replaced with nice new hi tensile hex heads.

Drove it outside to wash using a stool. Nearly fell off haha

Gave it a good wash

Sanding it all down

Masking...Took ages to make sure i didn't miss anywhere.

First coat!

Texture after the third coat

Final product after a week curing.

If you are thinking about doing this I could not recommend it more.
Turned out so well.
My mate is thinking about ripping the carpet out of his GQ shorty and doing this now haha.

Cheers,
Paul

Good work mate. Ive been hanging out for an Aussie supplier. Seen a couple of writeups on the USA Jeep Forum with great feedback.

Id heard some liners have a rubbery texture which i would have thought might be an issue around a hot transmission tunnel. Im guessing this is not the case with the Raptor Liner?

The texture is rough but not sharp and its not rubbery at all.
So far so good with heat from the transmission tunnel but i haven't driven over 30 mins on a hot day yet.
I know it used to get bloody hot on long trips.
