Its not a bad idea to ride with someone first time but I suggest you drive your own jeep from the first day.
1. Its going to suck being a passenger for a whole day, LCMP is huge, and there's a lot of driving on basically easy dirt roads to get to some of the challenging tracks, more then half the time you will be driving on easy dirt roads and all that you will be doing while being a passenger is wishing you can be driving your own jeep.
2. Once you get to a more challenging track that you dont feel comfortable doing, you dont have to do it. You can watch people do it, plus almost all the time there's what people call a chicken track which is an easy way around.
3. You wont learn a lot about how to 4wd if your in the passenger seat of a different vehicle, best way to learn anything is hands on experience. That way you get to know your jeep, what it can do and how it does it in a more personal and intimate level
4. If your unsure of a certain track/obstacle there will be so many of us that will be more then happy to guide/navigate you through.
5. From experience on the second/last day, there's never a lot of 4wd, people will be tired from drinking and staying up late by the fire the night before. Then there's packing up your tent and belongings. Then some people want to be home before dark to unpack there car and clean it as most people have to work the following day. So on the second/last day there's prob only a couple hours, if that of 4wd and usualy its a smaller group.
