I bash mine as hard as I feel is sensible every time I fill up with a lo-flow, bearing in mind the way whole fuel fill assembly is slightly loose and has a fair amount of Chrysler Plastic in it's construction.
After 3 years the constrictor is showing no signs of coming off it spot welds.

I mashed out the inside of the filler tube on my Discovery so it was easier to use Jerry Cans to fill it - I hadn't thought of the JK!
I just used a BFH and a drill to drill out what I could then the BFH demolished what was left.
Someone told me it was illegal, but I can't see a plod looking down my filler tube! Plus I don't own it anymore.
