I guess you're thinking of something similar to the VT Commodore keys?
Interesting. One of my 99s has no chip in the key, and my other 99 has a chip in the key. The only difference is ones a 'sport' package and ones a 'limited'.

Whether or not that has anything to do with it is beyond me, but that's my logical guess.

Probably does, I guess Chrysler Australia specified our Sports to come with immobilisers as standard to compete with standard features over here.

Its a nanny state, euro, United Nations, other side of the world, thing ..... as are most, "australian", vehicle standard rules - introduced over the last coupla decades.

That is definitely not the original key.
It will be a big surprise if some one can get that to give the correct signal.
The original key has a passive chip in it that can be programed from another key. Some one would need to copy the signal from your fob to get the buttons to work. You would still need to have the passive chip signal for the immobiliser.
Good luck!

Haha. Dont i need it i can get the chips, they are easy. Its the transponder on the internal circuit board that im snagged on. Duplicating its signal without destroying mine is being challenging
