Default Cold Start Issue

Hey fellas!
I've been having this problem ever since I changed out my starter motor. Not sure how this could be related to my current issue bit I'll do my best to explain the situation.
I'll go to fire her up in the morning and she'll kick over but won't hold the revs and just die down. The only way I can start her is to give a few pumps of the accelerator while starting and when she does kick over I have to hold the accelerator down at about 2000rpm for a while. After this I'll do either 1 of 2 things- back off the accelerator very slowly until she holds her own revs- or- shift into gear while holding 2000rpm and do a bit of backwards and forwards. Once she's warm she'll fire straight up.
I have charged my battery and checked that the earth and other wiring on the starter motor is contacting well.
Could it be the fuel filter? Or something I may have missed.
Any help is appreciated!

Benny

I would start with cleaning out the throttle body paying extra attention to the idle air control.
Can of carby cleaner - oxy sensor safe -from super crap will do it.

Good luck with it.

Thanks! Now that you mention it, I did clean the throttle body not too long before this started happening. I'll give it another good scrub though.

Cheers!

seems like your starter is working alright, so this feels more like an unrelated, coincidental issue. Like mentioned, given IAC a good clean and let us know. Does priming the fuel pump a few times before starting change anything? It can be different things. What year and model?
