Being on the brakes down hill arnt such a good idea alot of the time and you must rely on engine braking. 31s are ok but any bigger Id be doing 4.11 gear swap

utube has some good stuff on rebuilding diffs-setting ring/pinions
well worth the time to watch before spending on specialised tools.

All valid points guys. Have looked at diff spreaders and they look easy enough to make. (jj I'm surprised if you haven't made one!?) I'm just going to have to put them on and hope for the best, I'll post if anything happens. :-D

Who said that I didn't make one? I did mention earlier on in this thread that you'd need one.

It turns out that they are easy to make....

If you mean the thing to spread the pumpkin to get the centre out IMO it may not be necessary. I removed my d35 centre ages ago and have recently had the front one out and both came out without being too tight. Make sure you reshim it if not it will be f##### in no time.
