Default Your opinion?

Hey I have a problem with my 2005 golden eagle. I took my car to dc motors rockhampton to link my cam sensor to another and fix my timing as I replaced my cam shaft and housing. My car was only revving to 2 1/2 thousand even after they linked it up. They told me that the cam sensor was not getting full power so there is probably a wire that has frayed so I booked it in for 2 hours so that they can find it. (30th aug 10am) I told them to call me when they finish. After not recieving a phone call all day, I went in 5.pm to pick up my car and they told me its not even starting and they don't know what's going on ? Tue arvo I got a phone call to tell me that my ECU now needed to be replaced because when they where trying to find the wire and it shorted out the ECU and they looking for another one. My question is: if I took it there running and they blew my ecu, should I be responsible for paing for it? now I'm looking at paying more hours instead of the 2 that I asked for, plus a new ECU and more hours to link up my keys and everything else they need to do. I think that if they have made this mistake they should pay for it to be fixed

I would be getting on to consumer affairs and finding out what your rights are exactly, but i would think any reputable mechanic would pay to fix their mistakes and its not your responsibilty.

They should fix it at there cost, all trades are the same. If there's no other option and it looks like your going to foot the bill get your car back and order one in America, I got a new one programmed for my vin for around 300 from memory. You don't want them to order it through jeep and it costing thousands when you have to foot the bill.

it wouldnt have been reving over 2500 rpm because the cam position was not in alignment, which is super easy to adjust: and tracing wires; always, but always disconnect the battery.
you have just cause to get them to fix at their own cost

Yes.

They should cover 'their' mistake.

I have been where you are and they covered the cost.
