1999 model without coil packs would be the go if I was buying again. I'd avoid the 2000 models with coilpacks too, just seem problematic, although I never see posts about probs with them specifically...

Best to buy one off someone from here that knows them and has looked after like an XJ should be cared for...

I happen to be selling one... With a d44 rear diff and some other stuff, lots of other stuff. PM me if keen.

Mine is a 99 with an 0630 head and no coil pac , Aussie compliance date is 7 th month 99 , not sure what build date is as its too hard to get it out of the garage at the moment , is the 0630 one of the weaker heads ?
I prefer the all dark grey interior in the 99 compared to the grey / blue two tone colour in the 98`s

I have a 98 and am mostly happy with it. you can get decent 98s for around 1500-1800 in good cond. the thing with a 98 is they sorted the issue with the hinges on the doors, either that or it was the part that holds the door open whre the early models had issues.

regards a

Ended up with an excellent nick 1998 sport with 209000kms on the clock for $2200. Will post some pics once I finish working on her. Full fluid change, fixed a broken window motor, removing bubbled tint and waiting on a couple of bits to finish getting her ready for road worthy. Came with American racing rims and brand new all terrains. Oh and roof is removed and at upholstery getting a new lease of life. Hopefully for under $3500 she'll be an excellent condition cherokee with many more years of good service!

Been busy cleaning her up so far, new roof lining ($130), changed the oils engine, diffs, transfer case, auto, radiator etc (about $300), new rear speakers, pulled out steering drag link/tie rod, pan hard, checked and greased everything including ball joints and drive line, removed bubbled tint, repaired front drivers window that wasn't working, replaced front discs and pads ($250), bit of chassis black on fuel tank and front bash plates and diff covers just to neaten her up underneath. Just awaiting sway bar bushes, new front shocks, new engine mount, new spark plugs and new front bump stops (about $300 delivered from US) hopefully will arrive mob/ties ready for roadworthy on Wed and she'll be good to go. Back to two jeeps in the family again and Now up to Jeep number 5.

Uh, not according to my info, the 94's had the smaller weaker front uni's, the 95's onwards had the larger, stronger uni's....
