I got a used pcm of my jeep dealer in town from the same Cherokee model and it worked.
that saved me from a lot of trouble and spending lots of money!

the only thing is, the check engine light is on. how can I get rid of that?
Good to hear you are running again.
Actually it drinks goon!
The CEL (Check Engine Light) can be cancelled by any OBD scanner (these are cheap and you really need these items, they take the guess work away completely - check other threads on here about them) or it may just go out after running x amount of Kms if it does not suffer the same error, my guess is it is confused atm.

I use an ELM327 plugged into my laptop and I am quite happy with the results on the Jeep and other vehicles (SAAB, Hyundai), however it appears others have this device with wireless or Bluetooth (easier on the road?) without problems.

You can reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery and grounding the positive lead. Then put it back on, ignition on, lights on, lights off ignition off. That will clear the light but the codes will still be on the ECU. Best to clear all the codes on the ECU as it might contain some that were from the donor vehicle to do that you will need a scan tool.

Regards

Good on ye, Tobs. Still don't know why it took you so long to get convinced about swapping it out again, since thats what I already suggested in post #13 or so

Anyway, be glad you dont have the immobiliser anymore. Or back again to having no immobiliser, I lost track by now.
