In any case I will try either Narva's or Phillips, I'm not buying Britax any more.
There are others as well

Found one yesterday that had a decent heatsink on the back rather than a fan.

On the +80 side I had Philips lamps in for nearly 2 years then replaced them with HID. I di like the idea of LEDs so may look at them soon

Sent from a tiny keyboard with fat fingers, apologies for my spelling. .

Good to hear that the Phillips lasted 2 years and you only took them out to upgrade.

I wish I had looked more closely at the Britax packet to see where they were made. I hate buying stuff that is made in China at the same price of something that is made in a European Country or the USA (it's almost a guarantee that you are being ripped off).

My stock bulbs lasted more than 5 years and there is no way they cost $36 for the pair. When you pay up for the after market globes you expect to get something better than 12 months.

I'm going to send an email to Britax telling them exactly what I think.

Edit: I just sent an email to Britax, http://www.britaxae.com.au/ems/contact.html

I put in the Narva +120 nearly a year ago. I think they are excellent. Not cheap though compared to some other also good brands. However, I did notice the small print on the box warning that ''performance globes'' will not last as long as regular globes. I saw Narva also had some ''long life'' globes which were +xx (can't remember what %).

Sorry to rain on the parade... but its a fact of life that the harder you push an incandescent lamp the shorter its life will be.

Sure they run the filaments hotter to get more light..... but that makes them more sensitive to shock loads and decreases the lamp life as the Halogen Cycle isn't 100% effective at preventing filament loss.

The fine print is entirely true.
