I have been playing around with the bleed valve and only managed to get the cover off the other day, but I cant seem to get any fluid through it (have been using the SCA syringe). If the problem is still there after the O rings and valve are replaced I will look at putting a ball valve in, as piper talks about in his. I assume that there is no easy way to get replacements for the fuel line clips? I spoke to Pirtek about 6 months ago about replacing them and got blank looks back! ... lets just say they are not all in the best condition and have am well aware this might not be helping the situation

Sounds like the next idea is to get a bit closer in inspecting the lines to try and see where the air is coming from, is this better to do while running or just after? As when running the air is coming out of the filter with the fuel, having replacing the rubber lines yet though either. Sounds like some more work ahead for next week!

Is a BSB fitting just a normal end for the line? I think that would fix the problem, when I can remove it again! :/ and is it common to have problems in the power steering box itself (ie is it worth having it run over by a PS shop?)

Thanks again!

SMBCJ means BSP fitting (common pipe fittings). Any hydraulic shop can remake the fittings for you. I did mine myself as I'm a welder, but I converted the end to JIC which is a proper hydraulic fitting. I did a thread on it a fair while ago.

You should be looking at the fuel lines with engine running, you will not see bubbles without fuel flowing or suction from the pumps.

There is no replacement for the fuel line clips, they are integral with the fittings themselves, which are integral with the fuel lines themselves. You buy a complete new line from MB. In the meantime if you are concerned a couple of well placed cable ties can help.

It does sound a bit crappy but then again we are talking about orings and lines which have done solid service for 10 odd years and usually somewhere north of 150,000k's so really not that bad when out into perspective. Trouble is most owners have purchased these cars second hand and have come across these issues within a couple of years ownership.

V8 is certainly the go though, good power, no O2 sensor issues, no warped heads, good strong engine mounts that are easy to get to..... Oh wait

I see only one advantage of CRD over V8 :Click image for larger version

The number above is after 5-6 month of driving, actually today I noticed it is even better 8.6 L/100Km...

I wonder what is the avarage on a V8 after few months of driving.

The BIG advantage in QLD is the bloody rego, CRD cheaper than V8 but still get ripped off as they hit us for 6 cyl when we only have 5. But then the sound of the V8 makes up for all it's short comings..................mmmmmmmm
