Default Wk 2 aftermarket radio

Hi there
I have just installed an aftermarket radio from Ebay in my 2011 Grand. The factory radio had a very low resolution resulting in poor vision with the reversing camera and the cameras that I had set up on the caravan when towing which I had a lock pick connected so I could view when towing. The aftermarket radio has far better resolution with the camera and comes with a can bus converter/lockpick as standard. It also has GPS which I never had before. Everything in one unit. The GPS program has a one month trial and then requires purchasing if you are satisfied with it. That GPS program seems OK but I have a Navman that I was using before and has lifetime map updates so I was thinking I should load the Navman software to my new headunit. I copied the files off my Navman 350 GPS to my computer and then to an SD card and put it in my new head unit. No luck. Does anyone know how to copy the software from a legally purchased GPS unit to an aftermarket head unit.

Is it an all in one China unit?
If so, you can install any GPS software you wish, TomTom, navman, Garmin etc. I did the same for my ford focus and it work tremendously. Played everything, supported every format, dvb t tuner, as well as rear LCD screens which I also purchased. I have a thread somewhere in another forum about it. I'm guessing the Jeep is the same, as the China mob I purchased from had one for the Jeep GC wk2.

Default Wk 2 aftermarket radio

Hi David
Could you give us some details about the new radio, and where you bought it, and how it interfaces with the jeep steering wheel controls etc.
thanks Yoda

Hi there
I purchased the radio/media unit on Ebay from etocargps a company based in Hong Kong. The steering wheel controls still work and the radio fits straight in without any mods plug and play as they say. The operating system is WinCE.Net 6.0 and the trial map GPS is Sygic which does work but is only good for 1 month then I must purchase that for $65.00 and pay for updates if I wish when they become available. I have a Navman MY 350 with free updates that I have updated 2 times previously on the navman and thought that why not load the system on my unit and have free lifetime updates. I tried doing that but it would not load onto the new unit. I am not a computer wiz but I was able to load the files from the Navman MT 350 on to my home computer then to a micro SD card and then placed that in the new unit but it did not recognise it.
That is my problem. Hope that makes it clear. Thankyou for you help so far.

The Navman maps will be protected with some type of inscription or be designed to only work on Navman operating system. Given you can't transfer your maps between multiple Navman devices and that when you get lifetime updates etc it is linked to a device and it's serial number then I expect it is a bit of both. The only way you will get it is to find a process that allows you to bypass their protections. I thought I read some details a few years ago but a brief google didn't come up with anything. (maybe cause it's not legal to do so)

Because you are looking for a legal copy, I can't help you. But all I can say, you have the most flexible system you can ask for and possibilities are endless.
