My 99 Limited has HP 30. Also for 33's not a bad idea to get rid of the D35 also.

cheers to all for the replys , i already have brake lines and extended bump stops ,, but after thinking about it before laying down the hard earned I went with the RC 4.5" lift kit pn#633N2 and have decided on 31"s . A mate at work has this kit and it performs well on his 2000 xj. He also warned me about the 6.5" lift and hidden ongoing maintenance costs. Well I have a 99 limited so being 1" lower than a sport anyway standard i think i will see a huge difference with the 4.5" + 31"s.

whoa they really hang out there don't they , how do you think ill go with the 31"s?, by the way 31"s make me happier that in the tyres have worked out roughly $100 cheaper per tyre and I'm thinking of ditching the steles and using the stock alloys., will i need to space out the stock wheels?

You will also need extended brake lines for 6.5" of lift, the supplied relocation brackets are really only any good for 2" to 3" lifts and then really only a bandaid solution. You will also need to extend the bump stops and do a bit of guard trimming to fit the 33's. A 6.5" lift in an XJ takes a lot of work to get right.
the sye kit i am getting is for a 242 and the shaft custom length , just trying to work out what length that will be as the vendor isn't quite sure what ill need, Even now that I've decided 4.5" is enough lift

31's on stock rims will be fine. 4.5" lift and 31's is a great combination.
