In NSW the new tyre spec according to VSI6 (this is tyre size only) is 7% larger diameter then standard (on your tyre placard) 245/75/16 is only 5.2%, you may even get away with 255/75/16 at 7.1%. http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/...ifications.pdf
I've heard conflicting info on that one, some even claim to run 265/75/16 with 2.5" lift and pinch weld intact.
Had another look at my setup and can see that it is possible and will come down to the amount of wheel offset and the upper control arm clearance to avoid hitting an non-modified pinch weld. So if you have JBA arms and get the wheel offset to hold a 245/75R16 tyre wall around 15-20mm off the arm you'd very likely be able to leave the welds alone. Apologies for running so far off topic.

3 weeks back I replaced my tyres for $150 a corner with Hankook AT-M 245/70R16. These were the extra load variety not light truck version but at that price I was willing to give them a go. Was drawn to them by the positive reviews and number of Jeep owners happily using them, plus the very few negative reports were IMO minor issues. So far they've proven themselves worthy in some serious mud and are much quieter on road than my last tyre - Cooper AT3. Seem to hold very well in the wet and the tread appearance is a little more aggressive too. I don't have close up shots of them fitted so here's a pic comparing them to a fitted AT3.
This is 2 days after fitting, I don't baby my tyres.
Where did you find a deal like that and can I get their contact details? I called around today and couldn't get close to this.
Haven't decided anything yet - and may still just get another set of Scorpions!

I've been running 245/75 16 Maxxis Bravo 771 for over 40,000km on my ZG, I'm very happy with them. Quiet, good on wet road and still got heaps of tread, maybe another 40thou.
