Has anyone been to Cape York, more specific The Old Tele Track since campsite bookings & pay on line has been introduced.
If so?
*How did it affect the trip?
*Is there alternative camp sites available that are relatively close to the track that don't require booking?
This will be our first trip to the cape & we have no idea what to expect other then what we have seen on YouTube videos & online blogs.
This might be my only trip to the cape with the family so I want it to be memorable for the adventure not rushed & tiering, how long do you recommend I take to do the OTT with 5 4wd's & families in tow?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated

The area I guess that will affect you will be the Jardine & Lakefield NP. You will need to either call or book online for them. Outside the NP areas there is a ton of free camping spots. Some are large some are small. Mostly near the crossings. We found that you will come across someting to suit your size at sometime. Large groups go up all the time, school hols may make it a bit tight tho.
The online stystem really sucks but the self register was a disaster anyway (in busy areas anyway)

I was thinking about June/July but was concerned that if there was a late wet season it would rule out the Creb.
I would be keen to hear about your experience when you get back.
Will probably book & stay at Punsand Bay for a couple of days at the tip, apart from that I will have to weight & see what the group wants to do.
