Its not a jeep transmission, the tranys are in quiet a few different vehicles, take it to a reputable trany shop & they should be able to help you, you should name & shame the shop that fobbed you off as a Jeep owner, clearly they have no idea of working on transmissions
As said before could be a sticky solenoid not engaging properly in reverse, once its in & doesn't slip so I wouldn't think it is major

Hey thanks for the input, I will take it to someone who can diagnose the problem. I am leaning towards an electrical problem and agree with the possible sticky solenoid. Unfortunately the the shop was recommended in this thread. I spoke to a old dude who drove the car and said it probably just needs a service and that's what he did. It has been good of about 12 months before acting up again. I'll look for a jeep specialist. Cheers

So I have pinned the problem to the reverse valve in the vale body. Can Anyone recommend where to buy a reconed valve body for. 545rfe ? Cheers
