Default 2014 Grand Cherokee Driving Fraser

Hi All,

This might not be the correct section for this but it does relate to Grand's.

Anyways, I have a 2014 Limited Grand Cherokee Diesel and have been thinking about heading to Fraser in October.
My questions are as follows:
1. What is considered high clearance? All the website say "high clearance 4x4 only'' but no where can I find what the clearance measurement is. Any ideas?
2. Besides some more capable offroad tyres (thinking Cooper AT3), what else should I consider a 'must have' for my car?
3. Has any one done this in a relatively stock Grand and any advice?

Thanks guys.
Mark

Seen a few stock grand cherokees there back in May, not a problem. I saw a Hyundai Santafe driving the inland tracks and getting as far as indian head.

Tyres aren't a huge issue, the stock 18inch ones will probably be fine, just have to know that the softer P rates tyres can be more easily damaged on tree roots/rocks. So take it easy when you see them..... sometimes you don't.

Another thing to watch is the front airdam is a bit low. Not a problem most of the time, but deep washouts (where creeks run down over the beach) may see you hit the airdam.

Must haves: I'd take air compressor, tyre deflators, snatch strap and maxtrax(or similar).... oh, and make sure you have a front RECOVERY hook.

edit: We haven't had much rain recently, you will probably find the access tracks down to the beach (and through indian head) are soft, and easy to get bogged. Let down your tyres, then pump them up a little on the firm beach bits.

Thanks mate.
I am running the 20"s that come standard but will change the tyres to the AT3 Coopers I think. Less aggressive than that BFG but a really good overall tyre I think.

Were the Grands you saw in May completely stock or did they have the air-suspension?

Well there was a laredo, I'm guessing it was standard suspension. I was driving a cruiser at standard height, it didn't have any problems, The Grand Cherokee is similar clearance. And if that Hyundai can get around, a stock grand can.

Where are you staying on fraser?

Mark,

I take it your Grand doesn’t have Quadra lift?

If not remove your front air dam and get some Maxx Traxx or Treds and you’ll be fine. Maybe a appropriate snatch strap and shackles just in case you need to pull someone out.

I did some sand work when I still had the original Kumhos on and they were fine. I’ve now got Nitto Terra Grapplers on the 20”s.
