While the NSS is a problem and you need to attend to it won't affect the revving up of the engine. Where as this oil leak may have some affect if it is causing the trans to lose pressure. You need to fix the leak and the NSS and go from there.

You may have dislodged the kick down cable. You say one is loose.

It took 500ml of fluid but it's doing the same thing. When I'm going about 40 it's revving around 3200 and if I leave my foot where it is and put it to neutral the revs are the same. Auto clutch?

Default Xj revs up and doesn't come back while driving.

All good guys it was the TPS. Had been knocked loose when I put the air filter back on. I have that big square box thing that connects to the intake. It must of knocked it off. So happy. However I have found a few problems while trying to problem solve this. Good fun.
