Default Myth

There are some good threads to follow and read on this garage.
Still learning and searching elsewhere too, I read this and wondered if you would agree with them, or not?

Ok I had a quick skim through the link about the mods, some I've done some I haven't.
Firstly, OBD1 v OBD2 performance, in my experience and I've had several of each, the OBD2 is by far better performing then the OBD1, horsepower is the same so is the torque but the difference is the fact that the peak torque in an OBD1 is at 3950rpm where on the OBD2 it's at 3000rpm, that's significant!!!!

Second, throttle body spacer, I ran one for years on my OBD1 engine (down on compression) and it DID make a difference, despite some other forum members telling me they don't work it definitely did on mine.

Third, the late model intake, seems to work very well on OBD1, all the write-ups that I've read with any sort of testing and results that show otherwise have been on OBD2's, my OBD1 would not stop pinging on standard fuel even when empty on a warm day, a combination of the TBS and the late model intake and I was able to tow a 1t camper on standard fuel all the way to the top of Cape York in the heat up there without a single ping and I got vetter economy once I did the swap as well.
Prior to fitting the manifold and spacer I got better performance and no pinging on premium fuel, it even worked out cheaper to run on premium despite again being told I was wrong that it can't I proved it did on my vehicle, once I changed the manifold and added the spacer premium made no discernable difference.
One day I'll try the late model manifold on my OBD2 to see but I'll do the injectors first....

Based on my testing if you have OBD2 don't bother with the manifold swap, if you have OBD1 then maybe it's worth a try....

I installed extractors and the same magnaflow exhaust, when my manifold cracked and it made a noticable difference when towing the pop-top van we used to own. I'd believe their numbers.

The best thing was it was a cheaper option that replacing the original manifold.

It was a good read though, thanks for posting it.
