Arb rd117 locker fitting problem
My 2010 JK CRD 6spd is currently in to have the diff ratios changed from 3.21 - 4.11 and a ARB RD117 locker fitted to the rear. The front was installed with a new hemisphere and went in without any problem but the RD117 does not fit correctly. According to the installer, the bearing caps do not sit correctly over the bearings and the backlash cannot be adjusted without excessive shimming. ARB advise that the RD117 is correct for the JK Dana 44 for all ratios and that it should install correctly with the Yukon 4.11 gears. The problem seems to be that the RD117 is too short across from bearing to bearing, hence the caps do not sit over the entire bearing cup or the bearings are incorrect. Unless ARB or the installer figure out what the problem is, I will have to have the 4.11 fitted to the original hemisphere and investigate alternate lockers. I find this all very frustrating so would welcome any sensible advice that may shed some light on the problem.
