Default 1983 Cherokee T-Bar auto shifter replacement?

Hey all,

I've just bought a 1983 FSJ and the T-bar auto shifter is missing. Just wondering what sort of handle is required...can a universal part be used?

From what I've seen they're similar to GM or Chrysler basic black shifters with thumb operated detent button.

Anyone with actual knowledge of this?

Cheers,

BK

Yep your close ..they are ford ...same shifters as used in the fords of the same era as your FSJ ...ive got a couple here can take a photo if want ...im pretty sure they where only used in the australian assembled jeeps so you will need to source one from here second hand or maybe them ford resto places could have them ...otherwise adapt a BM,Hurst,Lokka shifter...cheers mick

Yeah that'd be awesome if you could post a pic, google images is scant on RHD models...

The centre console cover is missing too...assuming it's a similar vintage matching Ford item then?

There's a few XT/W/Y parts on FleaBay that look suitable...

Thanks,
BK
