Thought?
I think I've actually fixed this problem in mine. After alot of searching of other Jeep forums aswell, trying to see if there was a throttle adjustment, I came across some info stating that the bushes on your accelerator pedal do wear out and cause alot of excess movement in the pedal. I might have actually read this on JeepFreakzOz page on Facebook, but anyway I had a closer look at my pedal and sure enough this was a big issue with it. About 2-3mm movement left or right made it very difficult to drive. So I rang Jeeepart in Hervey Bay and they gave me a "new" secondhand accelerator pedal assembly.

After a bit of minor stuffing around I had replaced the pedal and didn't have to drive very far at all to realize this had been the cause of some big drivability problems, from day one Makes such a huge difference now and with the extra spring still on the throttle body, it's just the way I need it.

I will need to more test drives to check for the lurch, but I drive a little hatchback as a daily driver and don't drive my TJ very much at all. I have re-teach myself how to drive my Jeep again.

Awesome! Out of interest how many km's does your pedal have it? I'm interested in what the timeline is for the pedal issue developing.

When I bought the TJ it had 124,000kms on it and the problem was there from the day I picked up the car. I'm not sure how it passed roadworthy ( along with a number of other items). I'm not completely happy with where it has been serviced in the past, I don't think it ever saw a Jeep mechanic. I'm just glad it cost me nothing to fix

Thanks for your help, Bonza

Did a TJ swap with a mate for a few days. Same year and 6 speed. He loved my accelerator! He's already ordered the spring. I found his TJ reminded me straight away of my pre spring instal with lurching.

If you haven't got it get it!
