TBH I probably could have gotten away with throwing in pads on the old rotors but I am being extra cautious and for an extra 50 bucks why not. Kmart said it would be fine to throw them on without machining (if they are not shuddering now) but so did the stealer mech with my old EF and the brakes shuttered like shit on that after a few months. My old mech from the mainland said he always machines or replaces them and from my experience he has nearly always been on the money.

Regards A

Provided the disk is well above minimum thickness its fine to just replace the pads. This applies to ventilated disks. For solid ones, provided there is no issue with a grove near the hub, you can tun down quite thin.

I honestly reckon I could drive to work and back for $15 compared to $38 in the Jeep on gas.

I drive an old Rodeo for work for the same reason. No worries about minor damage. Super cold AC. It just keeps doin its job.

Thanks CJ6 I will keep it in mind and have a think over the next couple of days. Might be good as a spare regardless.
