I have just installed an Oricom UHF300 kit over the weekend. It was so simple and have put it into the centre console. It is hidden away neatly on the front panel and is powered off the power supply in the bin. The antenna runs under the console to the firewall grommet behind the glovebox. It was a bit fiddly to get the cable down through the holes. All up took about 2 hours (30 mins was spent finding the rubber grommet that I dropped when I was pulling it out). The antenna is on a z bracket that came with the kit. Here are a couple of photos. Hope this is useful. .

Default WK2 UHF fitting location

So much room in the centre console! The CD player ruins that idea

Install looks good too

UHF fitted. Handset plug in point put in the dash cubby hole while the unit is mounted under the drivers side of the centre console.

Mounting point on the bar had to be drilled out a bit to bring the aerial forward as the bonnet caught on the aerial spring and would not open or close.

Hey Johnny,
Mate I am installing a 5dbi antenna on my WK2 in pretty much the same way you did. I have a couple of questions for you. Firstly, when you put the z bracket on did you have to bend it a bit to get it to fit so it didn't hit the bonnet? Secondly did you use all four screw holes to mount it? Thirdly, where did you run the antenna cable through? I have had a bit of a look and have found a grommet to go through but can't find where it is in the car without pulling heaps of stuff out. Could you send me a few pics of your set up?

Scruffa,
I did have to bend the bracket and added some padded, double sided tape to make sure it didn't hit or scratch anywhere. I had to bend the bottom of the bracket into a slight U shape to get it to seat properly. No I didn't use all the holes just the two on the bottom seemed to hold it tight enough. Hasn't moved yet and seems solid enough.
The rubber grommet on the passenger side leads directly behind the glove box. Don't drop it when you pull it out as it goes into some other dimension and takes forever to get back! I pushed the cable through first and had to fish around blind to get it down, it is really a matter of just keep shoving cable down there and eventually some will be in a place you can reach it.
Then the rest of the trim clips out of the way and you can run it clear into the centre console. Mine is powered off the power point in the console. The antenna cable runs up and into the bin, under the gear trim. There is an extra space near the locking clip at the top.
I will get some better pics tonight and put them up tomorrow. I hope this helps.
