Default Touchscreen Install

Hi all, Just after some info in regards to installing a touchscreen Head-unit for my 2012 jk.

I currently have a stock standard radio / cd player installed from the factory and was hoping to upgrade to a touchscreen version (with gps) out of the rubicon or other model wrangler where it comes standard.

My main concern is if the size of the new touchscreen head unit will fit into the existing dimensions of the stock radio player, and also where would i be able to source one of these from.

- Any info is greatly appreciated as I am still new to the Jeep scene.
Cheers

The head units are the exact same size it will bolt straight in you will need to purchace a factory GPS reciever that plugs into the Blue plug on the rear of the unit & check EBay .

There are some very cool aftermarket units around nowadays that are slide in - plug and play.

May run Android so can run all the apps you'd want and are much better priced than the genuine one.

IIRC there have been a number of threads here on these upgrades.

If buying non oem some head units will be too long and require cutting. Only for certain years I believe. Something to consider..

If what you have currently is all standard from factory, I would suggest you go with aftermarket ones. It's painful if you want updates for the maps on oem units.

Send MRGC a PM - he might be able to fix you up with something. I bought an OEM touchscreen off him and it's been a good upgrade.

Took about 15 minutes to switch it over.
