Default Replacing serpentine belt and tensioner on 2010 JK CRD

Would appreciate advice on what parts have to be removed and how to remove them in order to replace the tensioner and fit a new belt.

if you're to replace both, it's a walk in the park.

tools: 13mm socket & torque wrench.

- memorize the threading of the old belt,
- cut the belt not to muck around with locking the tensioner,
- replace the tensioner with new one, torgue the bolt to 40 ft. lbs.,
- thread the new belt in,
- pull the locking pin out with pliers.

15 min job...

Just fitted new belt 15 minutes ago. There is definitely a few threads explaining it in detail. You need. 8 and 10 mm 1/4 sockets and extension. 15 or 16mm spanner can't remember which. 36 mm spanner. Some adjustable ones will work.

Take off crappy plastic shroud
Take off washer water bottle
Undo shroud. 2 bolts. One on either side. Remove air box lid to make this easier. Unclip wiring on fan from engine side.
Undo fan. Jam something in it to stop it spinning.
Remove fan and shroud together.

Take photo of fan belt arrangement. Take tension off belt using spanner on tensioner. There is a hole in it to lock it.

I would wait for it to cool down. I didn't and burnt myself a little.

I would definitely apply anti seize to the fan threads. Makes it much much easier to remove next time.

Thanks guys. I did do a search for threads but don't seem to have much luck in searching for posts.

I assume the crappy shroud is the piece along the top held in with those even crappier press in clips. If so is there an easy way to remover the clips. What is the 36mm spanner for?

Yes. Those clips are terrible. Screwdriver, pliers, brute force. They are cheap to replace via eBay. 36mm spanner is to undo fan.

I just tried this, How the hell do you jam something in the fan to stop it moving? Maybe mine is different being a 2011? Any pics?
