Battery life indicator
These little green monsters may show green on a dead battery - it is a monitor on a single cell and not the entire battery condition.
Thus, if one of the cells is failing and it is not the one with the monitor, all shows "great".
More a selling feature than a really workable one.
A multimeter (voltmeter) is the best solution to determine battery condition for the home mech.
Look at the battery voltage (will say some thing like 13.8; note that if this is low then the battery may have a problem) - start the vehicle and it will be 14. something (say .4) - turn on the high beam, and it should not change much around this reading - it all is as this then your alternator is charging and the battery is fine ... all assuming of course that you know:
- how to use a meter
- what to expect from the reading
- what is normal for your vehicle (regular checking is a service item anyway.
Note for the Techo's and the flamers:
The above are indicative examples ONLY.
