Default Post warranty self service.

Decided to change my oil and filter today (Jk 3.. It's been 10 months since my last dealer service. Cracked out my tools and tried to undo the sump plug. Using a 13mm snap on socket it skipped a notch. Got out an imperial spanner which seemed to fit.
The problem is it still won't budge. It feels as though some Muppet at the dealer has hung off a breaker bar doing it up.
I rang the dealer workshop and asked them to confirm if it was metric or imperial. The response was "I think it's imperial because it's American".
WTF?? I think?
Can anyone confirm?

I have always used my metric sockets to take it off. I also have not replaced it with each change but have also never had one leak either.

Well I don't know what yours is, but mine is 13mm.
The thread is M14 1.5.
Which engine do you have?
The reason they can be found to be over tightened, is because they tighten down on a steel to steel surface at a large diameter flange.
It should only be tight enough to not fall out.
The seal is retained in the groove as it is a kansil ring type.
It doesn't matter what torque it is taken up to, it will seal.

Cheers guys. Considering that, once i get it off, will i need to replace the seal?
Reminds me of when i was rotating the wheels and the wheel brace slipped off. I looked down and it broke off the chrome case on the wheel nut. I had to take it back to jeep to get them to remove it. They advised me to go out and buy a new set of wheel nuts and replace them all. Apparently any water ingress between the nut and chrome case will cause the case to corrode from the inside out and is quite common.

Mine came back with way too much oil in it. I decided to drop a bit out of it. The sump plug had been done up real tight and the head chewed up. I had to use stillsons on mine to get it off. Got a new sump plug from the dealer for the next service. I am doing it myself now.
