Auto or Manual?
If an Auto - trans temp gauge, deeper transmission oil pan and aftermarket cooler would be wise additions.

Do you have a reece hitch?
One of these recovery points is a great investment \/

Add some front recovery points if you don't have any already - these typically bolt into the existing front bumper attachment points.

I air down to 15/16 psi on beaches/dunes but I'm running 33" MTZ's

Get a decent compressor to pump up tyres afterwards, just don't put it in the engine bay - it'll over heat.

Maybe get an electronic rust prevention device fitted.

A decent set of spotties with blue covers for nighttime beach driving.

cheers

Tyre pressures are often talked about for sand. Vehicle weight will play on you as well. If you don't really need a sub tank, probably best to keep the weight as low as possible to minimise the number of times you get stuck.

A set of maxtrax/treds/bushranger sandtracks will get you further than a winch when theres no trees nearby.

Oh yeah, long handled shovel is easier than a short handle on your back. Some 4wd shops sell the ones that the handle unscrews into halves, so it makes for easier storage

Get yourself a couple of cans of water dispersant and go nuts on your electrics and areas that are hard to get at to rinse, this will really help with all the salt damage and electrical shorts. Make sure you get everything clean an dry and then give things a couple of coats of spray, you can't use too much and it is worth pulling apart major plugs and spraying them inside as well.

As for all your joints, grease them well as sand is a killer on bushings, use a marine grade grease for this as it won't be affected by water or salt creep (worth cleaning out the old grease as much as possible first).

And the biggest thing, accept now that the car is going to get completely f@#k unless you spend ridiculous amounts of time cleaning and caring for it

Get onto E-bay , buy a 5L container of Lanolin release agent ..........coat the whole car underneath with it .......and in the chassis rails ........( obviously after diluting it with water ) ..........do this every couple of months .......... My TJ sees the beach at least three out of four weekend s a month and still looks as good as new with not a spec of rust in sight after years of beach abuse ........ And yes all you need is a good AT tyre with correct pressure and you can go anywhere. I have Mickey MTZ muddies on mine and at 12 PSI it goes fantastic on sand so if you prefer mud tyres , don't be scared as they work just as well but is not required ..........

Funny I've found Swamper TSL's to be quite good in sand.
And I've even seen boggers work sensationally - but they really need big HP to spin them like paddles rather than dig holes.
But generally I'll agree AT's are a better choice.
