Need to know what the fuel pressure is while cranking, get yourself a ebay OBDII dongle and read what the pressure is. Sounds like a failing pressure sensor on the end of the rail.

The PCM will not allow the injectors to fine until the fuel rail pressure is over 300-350psi.

Need to confirm what RPM you are cranking at, and when you turn the key the rail pressure should be 67psi or more. If this is less then you are not holding any pressure in the rail and it will take many cranks to start. 5-10 at times.

Join the facebook page for CRD JK owners. I go throw all the steps there in another post or pm me.
With out knowing what the fuel pressure is when the key is turned on, and cranking. we are all guessing what the problem could be. In these cases they are often failing injectors, but you have already replaced them. so the only 2 things left is the pressure sensor on the rail which there has been a few cases of them failing. Or the pressure sensor on the back of the high pressure fuel pump (Have not seen one fail yet)

Fuel pump been replaced this will be the intake one, Which only primes the high pressure pump, And pressure is good is not a good enough answer, we need to know what PSI is really is

Glen, The JK CRD self primes once it starts once, so once the engine has started and ran for a minute or 2, see system is self bleed.

*Shit mechanic if he just gives up that easy. Don't waste your time with useless people like that*

Thank you Mr Mightnight,

I will follow your advise tonight when I get home from work. There is a 15 hour time difference between where you and I live so I will get back to you tomorrow your time. I don't have a facebook account but I will use my girlfriend's to join as directed.

You have no idea what kind of mechanics are here where I live. There is an actual Jeep dealer here that refuses to work on my vehicle because it is Diesel which they don't sell and they are the only shop with a wiTech.

Thanks again and I will get back to you,

rob

Hey Davevk,

Thanks for the lead. I live in the Dominican Republic but I am willing to call the moon if they could offer a solution.

So I also started getting this hard to start issue. Read some of the past topics on the forum which helped.

I did a test this morning by listening for the fuel pump with ignition on. Pump was working but went for a long time (at least 10 to 15 seconds) before it turned off, then I tried to start and started first time like it should.

Does this mean that fuel system is loosing pressure over night and that's why it is taking that long to bring the pressure back up?

Or.

Fuel priming pump is on way out and taking long time to get system up to pressure ?

Or.

Some other fault causing pressure loss over night?

Thanks
Kim

Default 2011 JK 2.8 CRD hard to start

Is it taking longer for the glow plug light to go out - maybe related to colder weather now that winter has arrived? They don't like it when you tempt starting before the glow plugs are ready. Just a thought.
