Help me understand when to NOT USE 4WD LOW
I don't think the topic has ever come up in the KK section.
Not claiming to be an expert by any stretch, just owned a few brands of 4wd. My observations for speed limit is that I quickly get tired of the high engine revs when the track conditions begin to allow for reasonable speed, so just stop and go to high. Really can't see any damage occurring to the transfer case or gearbox due to high speed.
I use low range whenever needed on any surface other than a paved one. It's fair to assume that a moderately loose dirt road will offer enough slip to release any pressure on the drivetrain, it's not like it has lockers on it.
No broken drive components so far but I'm still willing to be educated otherwise.
