Default Need advice on early CJ 5/6 suspension upgrade

Hi all
I am looking for a full set of parabolic springs to suit a CJ6. I don't know the exact year, mid to late 70's (vin plate long gone).
I can only find parts in the states.
Researching on-line, the parts numbers change from 1975 to 1976… anyone know what the difference is?
So far the sales 'assistant' has been close to useless.
I am happy to remove and fit new hangers if anyone knows of an aftermarket kit that has wider springs (I can go wider but not longer than stock)
Cheers

Early CJ5.com is a good source of information specifically for this type of swap. The CJ's changed over after 1975/76 to, amongst other things, wider axles and an AMC20 rear. So guessing you probably have one of these "intermediate" models which should have a dana 30/40 front rear axle combination.

http://www.rocky-road.com/yj-spring-...ion-55-75.html this link will show you a bolt on option that allows you to use wrangler, (wider and longer) springs in a bolt on setup thinking of going this way myself

Cheers mate
I'll have a nosey. My old diffs are Dana 44 & 27. Pulling them out to fit 44s.
In the process of attempting to fit Hilux springs atm…… but that rocky road mod. looks a lot easier

G'day mate, what did you end up doing with the suspension ?

I've got a '70 CJ6 that I'm starting and I'm interested to know how you went.

Cheers

Hi Dave
I ended up buying Hilux parabolic springs and fabricating 4 new hangers to suit. Was a lot of research finding bushes etc to suit but I now have the parts numbers of the kits needed.
Rocky Road do a bolt on kit (look for link in this thread) to fit Wrangler springs on CJs. I reckon that would be the way to go
Cheers
Phil
