285/70R17 M/T tyres on standard rims

Is it ok to fit 285/70R17 M/T tyres on the standard 17x7.5 Jeep rims without causing rubbing?

I am thinking of Cooper STT tyres.

Yes it can work, but higher chance of rolling off on low pressure. I got the dynamic rims on my muddies. Which will be good for 35" when I upgrade.

And alloys are weak as ********.

i dont have the coppers, but i have no rubbing whit 285/70/17

I thought a wide tyre on a skinny wheel is less likely to come off?

I have the Cooper STT's in that size and have has no worries at all. Mine cop a bashing, speed bumps and gutters, I don't slow down much for them.
They nearly 80,000kms and still have a couple of mm of tread left.
They're just not the greatest in the wet, grip wise.
They have a stiffer sidewall than some other tyres so when aired down to 12-16 for wheeling they don't bulge out as much.

I have 285/70R17 Maxxis Bighorns & have so far run down to around 16psi and never rolled one off. Most 285 list as 7.5 as min rim width, so there shouldn't be an issue.

The only rubbing I have had is just on the curved part of the front sway bar at the front when disconnected & at full lock.
