Yes.... everyone who's ever sold a supercharger is a self proclaimed "expert"..... that's until something isn't right.

A Toyota is never the cheapest option. For the price of a LC76 you could have a Rubicon with a heap of extras. I can't comment on the reliability of a 76 as I haven't owned one but I did own a 200 series for 4 years and I just couldn't trust it off road as it had so many electrical issues with problems with ABS sensors, centre diff lock not engaging or not disengaging, broke a CV on the Old Tele track (LC76 won't suffer the independent suspension CV issues). I had to constantly change the fuel filter as it would always have issues with fuel when outside of major cities. The Toyota dealers also think you are weird of you actually go offroad in a Landcruiser as most don't even get dirty or are just used to tow the caravan or horse float. I still own a live axle 105 Cruiser which has been good but its a petrol an the only problems I've had are two alternators and the aircon needing a major overhaul.

After all that I bought a Rubi and after 35000ks with no issues I'm more than happy and it is easily the best/most capable vehicle I've owned for offroad work.

No diesel option in the Rubi so you're stuck with the Pentastar. The Toyota V8 Diesel has over 20% more torque. No cheap exercise to upgrade a Rubi to the point where it could handle that much extra torque and 35s. 20k would be a highly conservative estimate for an engine swap, gearbox and transfer upgrades, diff upgrades etc. Realistically it would be over 30k unless you're doing all work yourself. Insurance would become a nightmare and resale would be ********ed. Basically flush 20-30k down the toilet. Where as spending that extra dosh on the 76 Series would return a good resale price.

The other option is start with a diesel sport and replace the front diff with a Dana 44 and upgrade to lockers.

Fingers crossed Jeep grow a ********ing brain for once and release a new Wrangler Rubicon with an aluminum body and the turbo diesel out of the GC.
If that day doesn't come before I flog out my Wrangler, I'll be crossing back over to a 76 series.

Uneek were gonna make replacement rear axles for the cruiser to get rid of the stupid narrow rear track. Cruiser makes a great tourer but nowhere near as capable as a weekend warrior too big, too heavy, too tippy, and flex like a brick. Similar interior spec as JK as expected for a utility vehicle. I love the power they have but reliability has been an issue the 4 76series and 2 200 series we run in the cooper basin have all had fuel related issues, and broken drag links due to savage corrugations. Patrols we had all had cracked diff housings, chassis and door hinges. Navaras and hiluxs all fail apart as well. It a tough environment. Jeep wouldn't last a week hahahahaha.

When I bought my JK 07 Rubi UL I investigated a s/charger. The best info I could get re the 3.8 Petrol was don't do it. Jeep had experimented with it and the engine blew big ends etc and internals. I certainly would not SC a 3.8 with lots of km on it. Best leave it alone or go get a car that's got more guts from the start. Just my 2 c worth

Easy to sling mud without providing any kind of actual retort to the points listed.

Best to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and confirm it.
