Was travelling on a Melbourne freeway yesterday, raining and unexpectedly the traffic slowed to a crawl. Turned out everyone slowed to watch an X5 being put on a flat top.
No brand is immune to failures, the problem with Jeep I think is a lack of real knowledge about the car.
I was talking to another GC owner recently who complained a bit about the fact his battery failed. Jeep don't make batteries so seemed a bit unfair to bag the car.

I've owned Fords for most I my life and when I bought my first AU because they copped a bagging from the media I copped it from mates.

The typical question was why didn't I by a Commodore? My reply was always because I wanted a reliable car. That always caused an argument however that all stopped when the V8 Commodores all started going back to the dealers for warranty work and my Falcon just kept going.

I ended up owning 3 AU Falcons of different series and loved everyone and never had a problem with any of them.

People's perception of Jeep's reliability comes from ignorance.

I've posted this before in reply to a similar query so will just update a detail or two and press 'repeat'...

Our WK2 CRD Limited was from the first batch of diesels delivered in July 2011 and has now done over 100,000kms, all of them trouble free (not counting the three punctures and two windscreen stone chip cracks repaired). It has been used for everything from round town commuting to outback touring to interstate car trailer towing, and still drives like new. Interior and exterior has held up very well with no squeaks, no rattles, no bumps, no groans.

It has been serviced from new by Macarthur Jeep at Narellan with only recall work needed outside of the regular schedule. Not sure I could have asked for anything better from what was, at the time, a spur of the moment purchase.

Fantastic feedback one and all!
My wife and I love our Jeep and constantly fight over who gets to take it to work. Thanks for the renewed confidence in our purchase especially since we are gearing up for a 5 week central Aus trek in May/June.
Thanks again!

I haven't owned a Jeep for a while as I've had my Triton GLXR for almost three years and I've had the 4wd fail in this due to a pinhole in a vacuum hose. I've also had an ongoing issue with it entering limp mode.

I drove my '96 Cherokee across the Nullarbor without any problem (moved to Vic) and then drove my my '04 ford Courier back 2 years later which JUST made it as the $2800 fuel pump decided to start to give up the ghost 10 hours into the trip back whilst on the Great Ocean road. We got to Norseman, WA and it just managed to start again so I let it running while refuelling after that and done a straight run to Perth where it died within a week. Not to mention the head failed on the Courier at about 100k as well before that!
I'm not sure if I'd take the Triton to be honest even though it is still reliable.

Having said that, non Jeep owners took the piss out of Jeeps generally. It was worse when I owned a Lada Niva though haha! Just keep on jeeping, when you have problems just deal with it!
