I bet if you had got the numbers off the old seal, you could have gone to any 1/2 decent bearing shop & got one over the counter. Viton is the way to go. That is what I did with my diesel. Bit of high temp silicone Around the outside & its been good for 130,000km including cooking it a few times.

COOK the bastard ya reckon ?
problem with high temp is it is a silly cone , and due to it will get pushed in while the new seal is going on , chances are some could break away after a while and get caught in a oil journal
ill use a permatex this round as they call it a aviation glue.
THEN ILL STAB IT , COOK IT , REAM ITS RING and the final one will be like the guy who owned it before EPOXY GLUE IT.

At CAT we put/ use white pipe sealant "loctite" brand on all front and rear crank seals on all engines from $20k to $500,k and they never leak unless crank is scored but the pipe sealant is the best to use without any hassles bud.

Haha maybe fire would be the best way to remove your OLD seal from the engine? I've heard that works quite well. Usually a little bit of petrol to loosen the seal and then, WHAM hit with the blow torch bud.
Now we're cooking

like any hunter must do you first must STAB IT to make sure it ends quickly.
I forgot to seal the blasted box while moving I now have about 120 bucks of trans fluid on the ground. I HATE working on the ground.

Did you check the crank case breather system?
I've seen oil leaks from gaskets & oil seals on different brand engines due to carbon choked breather hoses, carbon clogged mesh baffles & sticky PCV valves. In one case it raised the crankcase pressure sufficiently to dislodge a camshaft oil seal.
