The size is not the problem, the weight is. STT Pro tyre is about 28kg without a rim

I was wondering why yours would be bending & mine hasn't. Brand would do it. I have the Maxxis Bighorns in 285/70. I'm guessing they are a bit lighter. I don't even have the tailgate rattles... yet.

I agree here.
I think my STT Maxx tyres weigh about the same and being fitted to HD steel rims. they are VERY heavy. Therefore I didn't wait too long to see if it would effect my tailgate or not, I changed the carrier shortly after fitting them.
Bloody hell, I have to use my bag trolley to manoeuvre my wheels on and off easily.

It seems the Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 weighs something similar. A set of stock 245/75/17 wheel and tyres weighed 27kg, and the same rims with 285/70/17 P3s weigh 41kg. Only been on a week (although was Camp Coffs!! ) but haven't noticed any issue with stock carrier yet. They measure at exactly 32 inches high...

Makes sense.
Cooper Tyres make the cases for Mickey Thompson.
