Default Is my XJ drive shaft broke? VIDEO

Hi All,

Getting a noise from my XJ at highways speeds, think it might be the front drive shaft or the diff, from this video do you think the play in my drive shaft is excessive and might be the cause of the noise, should i be replacing it?

https://youtu.be/iV7UJ4n6RnU

Thanks

Yeah man, that front shaft slip joint is toast. As you wing around in your car turning, going over bumps, braking etc that front shaft will be skidding in and out to accomodate the front diff angles etc. try removing the front shaft off the diff and go for a drive and you should notice the noise has disappeared. Also check the output yoke on the transfer case to see if the bearings are shot on that too as this play will hurt the t/case also bud.

I see a guy selling lots of parts down at Camp Coffs for a XJ, he may have a front shaft going cheap.

Took the drive shaft off ... noise still there ... someone said the front diff pinion bearing, but would that still be moving with the drive shaft off?
