Default vic high country

Hi everyone,
A couple of us are travelling from west of Brisbane to the vic high country next year with camper trailers but probably basing ourselves in a couple of areas. and I need to apply for my holidays now for next year. taking 4 weeks.

if We left here at the start of the 3rd week in October would areas like
Crooked river track, Blue rag track, craigs hut area and any other suggested areas be opened by the time we get there about now.

I'm getting a headache trying to navigate the web to find info.

Any help welcome

Cheers SIMSY (sjs)

Although most seasonal road closures end for the November cup weekend, the actual traversability of many tracks cannot be guaranteed becoz of fallen trees and other damage associated with winter. Don't expect averything to be open on day 1 of cup weekend, it can be very hit and miss. Many lower areas like sheepyard flat and the lower Howqua will be accessible, higher up may not.

Have a great trip.

Cheers.

I would avoid the Melbourne cup weekend as every dick head is out in the high country then. Best get down here on the Wednesday after the cup weekend. Most of them are back in Melbourne then.
