Default Sat Nav/GPS for 2013 MY14 Grand Cherokee Laredo

Sorry if this is topic already been driven into the ground, but I have made a good attempt at searching the site for answers...

For whatever reason, Jeep cannot offer (even at some astronomical price as an add on) an integrated GPS with the U Connect for the Laredo model. All the other models can get them.. This is absolute insanity to me.

For people in the same boat (or jeep), I think I have found a place that can integrate a GPS into the U Connect, and keep all the other functionality. But I am scared to try it out. Their reply to my enquiry Yes we have a add on system to suit the 2014 Grand Cherokee, you keep the original screen radio and controls and we add a video interface that allows us to integrate Touch Navigation.

Has anyone tried something like this yet?

The company that david scott used offer a gps that intergrates with the factory unit and judging from davids thread they seem to be on the ball .

If This Is the HiTV sat nav then I can tell you I have been looking into this for the last 6 months.

Had/have ordered a Grand Cherokee thru a Sydney dealer who offered this and got it for a great price.

Status today...JGC has been ordered twice both the wrong colour. During this debacle I have had lots of contact with the dealer and Jeep Customer Care.

Jeep Australia will not honour the warranty on the vehicle if you do the Hi TV sat Nav install.

Whilst the dealers will tell you and Jeep Australia its not a big deal and its plug and play stand alone unit.....crock of shyte!
They open up the head unit and install some bits including soldering in a ribbon.....its rather intrusive.

6 months ago you could have sent your head unit to Europe. 4 months ago you could send it to USA and both aftermarket sat nav installs would have been similar to the HiTV sat nav install, it was only a matter of time before they were doing it for the Rj3 head unit here in Aus.

I was told by a dealer in Sydney they had done 40 installs prior to Christmas with few issues. Owner of the business said likewise.

Dealer in Melbourne was offering free sat nav upgrade on Laredos but they pulled that promo a couple weeks ago. Told me they had 136 laredo customers waiting to get the install done, shortage of sat nav units.

Crap I say, if there are so many Hi TV sat nav installs out there how come we are not hearing from them. AND I can confirm that Jeep Australia will void your warranty if you go ahead.

Can you imagine the bun fight when you present with Uconnect issues and Dealer/Jeep handball you back to the satnav installer who handballs you to the sat nav manufacturer who then handballs you back to the Jeep Dealer. Oh the joy of it.

Dont get this sat nav till your warranty is up, least thats what I intend to do.

Cant believe Granny can have sat nav in her 20K grocery getter which works as advertised and you cant have sat nav in your 55K Laredo.
Bloody ridiculous.

NB: There is a Garmin sat nav they can install. Unit goes under your seat or the dash somewhere and you have to use a remote control to input to the UI, not my cup of tea and I dont know how jeep feel about this one. It was the HiTV sat Nav I always wanted

Hi all.
First post. I am in contact with a company in U.S.that can supply a code that unlocks the GPS in the uconect unit fitted to the larado. I have sent them my unit serial No. They have confermed they can supply the code for it. i an a bit reluctant to go forward as i have had a navtrix + hema unit fitted at the dealer before i picked up the g/c,but it is not as intergrated as the orignal.
