I just got a 50ml bottle included with my flashlube catch can, will try it when I fit the unit.

I've used Castrol Fuel Doctor for a while now. A bloke asked me a while back if it does any good. I replied "Dunno mate but it makes me feel good". Anyhow this prompted me to ask a local diesel mechanic what he thought. His words, "If you travel a lot and can't be sure of the fuel supply, use it all the time"

So my new second hand motor has some fuel line resonance does anyone think some additive might help - a friend of mine with long experience in Diesels as an operator thinks it might.....

While I use Penrite DPF cleaner in all customers vehicles fitted with DPFs, if for nothing more than at least I'm doing my best or what I believe to be the best thing in maintaining a customers vehicle.

IMHO.... I tend to believe most "additives" are nothing more than BS for the purpose of making money and making the purchaser, as already mentioned... "feel good".

The single best thing you can do to your common rail turbo diesel engine is service every 10,000kms and make sure the fuel filters are done at the same time.

have a look at the pic, WK2 filters at 30K..... now tell me how any "additive" is going to be of any more benefit than changing out the filters...

Regards
Daz

pretty convincing Darren, years ago a guy I worked for had those toilet roll filters on his diesel farm machinery. he swore by them.
Not had a chance to fit the catch can yet but put 90ml of flashlube in on Fridays fill up before heading to Perth yesterday, I guess it's too early to tell but it did appear to be idling smoother when we arrived.

Default fuel additives

I was of the opinion that fuel additives are more chemically harsh than fuel (petrol or diesel) and adding them to full tank of fuel and running via system will dissolve gunk/sediments especially in small diameter passages, bends etc...
On that assumption, I tend to add/run fuel cleaner one tank every 5k aiming to unclog or rather prevent build-up, and mending the car - feels good.
I would aim to use an additive during a longer trip – flush/clean the system and go return to normal properties or the fuel.
As a chemically harsh medium it will over time add to deterioration of plastic lines (intended/designed lifespan).
Fuel filters ???? they are first line or defense, trapping bigger dirt
