Have you considered starting procedings in small claims court? When I had to go after someone, (many years ago and in NSW), it only cost me $50.

Of course, the asshole declared bancruptcy after my claim for ~$1000 as it turned out that he already owed around $40k from other at fault & uninsured car accidents! (Including ~$4k in one of them for a jetski!?)

Well all done and dusted now and he owes me my money. Court ruled in my favour and the bailiff will be knocking on his door shortly.

He didn't even have the balls to show up to court. Looks like he's avoiding the law...
