Was on the way to Coffs Harbour with the van when just before Brunswick Heads when a loud shudder and heaps of white smoke came out from under the bonnet, stopped and opened bonnet and all drivers side covered in oil, dipstick was out about 2"and a massive pool of oil on the ground, can't find where all the oil came from,NRMA will tow it to Paul atCJD mechanical on Monday after i ring him mon morning, now just waiting for a mate to come and take the van back home and our daughter to pick us up,off to a good start for our 2 week holidays.

Man thats a bloody terrible start. Hopefully not too serious and costly, though the holidays down the toilet now.

Looks like a injector went open circuit and put a hole in a piston or stuffed the rings, motor still runs smoothly but massive blowby, need to workout if it's worthwhile pulling the motor down and hoping there's no other damage or getting a second hand motor, either way the motor has to come out which will be a pity as it is one of the last 2010 WHs with only 87000 Ks on the clock.

Motor wouldn't run smoothly with a hole in the piston.
It may be running on sump oil, which would account for all the white smoke, possible head or manifold gasket, maybe blown turbo oil seal.IMO
Hope for the best.

Sorry I ment it wasn't running like it had a broken crank or rod, no4 has stuff all compression so the motors coming out then take the head off and hope for minimal damage, this will all happen early next week

If it blew the dipstick out, massive blowby has occurred. If it has no compression on No. four I would assume the worst.
Good luck with it.
