Default CJ6 Engine Conversion

I have a little CJ6 Combat I'm about to start restoring, I'm not terribly interested in authentic restoration I want to sex it up, by the way the hardtop will be for sale if anyone wants a good one, I want to shove a 360 in it I have from a Cherokee, the standard gearbox will be piss weak so I'll go T18 and NP208 transfer case which us proven technology, gotta be better then the little 170 pursuit engine, this technically should get easy as the CJs were fitted with the V8, my questions for the brains trust are

Do the CJ 5, 6 , 7 share the same chassis?
How do I get around disc brakes , would CJ7 fit the 6?
Diffs ? I'm guessing the standard items won't be much chop so again CJ7?
Will the later tilt steering column from the 7 retro into the 6?
The rest I can guess myself I've owned Older FSJ Cherokees so I know the AMC mechanicals are upto scratch just the little CJs I haven't had much to do with

CJ5 & 6 chassis are similar but 6 is longee. CJ7 chadsis is different.
The CJ5/6 chassis is narrower between the rails. Infact I think you'd stuggle to fit an NP208 in there. Are you planning to full box the frame? The standard frame isn't strong.
Do you have the FSJ diffs still if so use those. If not unfortunately cj7 will probably but the wrong drop side. I'd go out on a limb and suggest modifying say WJ diffs. I think they have some of the best brakes ever fitted to a solid axle Jeep. Only downsides are the front CVs which ca be changed and the rear D44a doesn't have the aftermarket support (eg locker selection) as a D44.
