Default Wiring installation diagram for redarc tow pro

Would anyone have a diagram of what the wiring should look like for the Redarc tow pro. Have had our 2015 Grand Cherokee fitted but nothing is working. The Auto electrician doesn't want to know about it. Cheers Sue

Hi Susanne, its pretty basic if you have the tow pro elite installed. just 4 wires. +ve, -ve, brake light and trailer brakes. What do you mean by 'not working' no lights? no brakes? I'm no expert but others may know. If auto elec doesn't know, could it be the trailer ? If there are no lights on the unit and brakes aren't working check there is 12V being supplied. Did the sparky put is a cct breaker or fuse ? Maybe check that

We have it after upgrading from a basic Tekonsha and works well. I've talked to Redarc about some trouble we had with charging batteries in our trailer and they were excellent, so try giving them a call

The caravans fine, hooked it up to another vehicle all good. On the Jeep the right hand brake light comes on but no lights on van. Press the button on tow pro left hand brake light comes on, got brakes, light drops out, then no brakes. Obviously it is a fault with the vehicle, the brake controller or the Auto Electrician. Our problem is , Jeep doesn't won't to know about it, Auto Electrician doesn't want to know about it, Jeep in Dubbo said this is the only Auto Electrician that can do any work on the vehicle . Everyone is passing the buck , lots of them, unfortunately the $'s are all mine.

As Wanderer said, the wiring is pretty simple - however the Jeep has a Canbus system, and that means it will be a bit particular about what and where connections are made.
Your description sounds like the Jeep has a conflict with the wiring done by the Autoelectrician.
On our 2015, and as per our 2012 before that I wired my Tekonsha P3 (same connections as a Towpro) myself.
On the 2015 the dealer fitted the tow bar before delivery, and a Mopar harness was used.
The brake feed to the controller comes from the brake light wiring inside the left rear pillar and just behind the torch (accessed by pulling the little cubby out). The harness had a double plug sticking out of the harness, one side was stop light feed and the other side was a blue wire that went down to the trailer plug. It was simple to connect my wiring to the plugs, and take power from a circuit breaker connected to the battery.
Has worked perfectly.
Unfortunately I did have an experience with your Dubbo dealer when we had our 2012 and wouldn't give them all that many stars if asked to rate them.
John

Here is a PDF
https://www.redarc.com.au/Content/Im...n%20Manual.pdf

White wire to Battery negative (-)
Black wire to Battery positive (+)
Blue wire to Van Brakes (pin 5 on plug)
Red wire to brake switch or brake light (the wire that powers up only when you put your foot on the brake)
http://www.narva.com.au/products/browse/wiring-diagrams

Start by disconnecting the RED wire & see if the Jeep is back to normal.
If so then yes he has used the wrong brake light source.

Here is a post that may help
