Default exhaust advice

ok jeep xj 1996, minefield of forums on exhaust stuff, this maybe faster way, ok, had my jeep 10+ years. had extractors off son welded them up, as they cracked in a few spots, not even 2 months blown out again.

i looked under the jeep to see about a cat and oxygen sensor, i see something like a cat maybe foot long. no oxygen 2nd sensor i can see. only the one mounted in extractors. meant to be 2 from what i can see on the net.
jeeps noising even when no blown out extractors, well not too bad.

but i hunt so want it quiet. advice please. i am disabled so i am on very low budget and need my car to poke about less walking. extractors like is on jeep are about $490 ive got the dual pipes that join and go under gearbox area to a single.

im leaning towards going stock or cheaper extractors i think i need a cat too now. the missing 2nd sensor has me stumped. i cant get right under jeep, ill have to get son to look i was struggling to get back off my knees.

1. should i look for a stock manifold?

2. should there be 2nd sensor?

advice knowledge please?

Gday mate.

I can't advise on extractors, as I've only ever had stock ones on my XJs.

But for a '96, you should have two O2 sensors. One, as you mentioned, on the extractors/engine pipe, and the 2nd after the cat. converter.

cheers
